On an Amdocs podcast episode, Collaborate to Innovate, Expeto CEO Michael Anderson spoke with Matt Roberts, North American Marketing Director at Amdocs, about how Expeto’s NeXtworking platform for Enterprise First™ Private Mobile Networks is enabling innovative solutions for agriculture, utilities, ports and more at the 5G Open Innovation Lab (5G OIL). They went on to discuss many topics, including why 5G is under particular scrutiny right now, how the pandemic has affected 5G OIL projects and why collaboration just might be the key to innovation.
The episode also features interviews with 5G OIL Founder and General Partner Jim Brisimitzis, as well as fellow collaborators Ben Posthuma, Head of Product at GenXComm and James Kimery, Vice President of Product Management at Spirent. Their conversations revealed how working together at the 5G OIL has fostered innovation across verticals. The best example of this is the Food Resiliency Project, a collaborative effort that harnesses next-gen technologies like drones and edge compute to provide rural farmers with valuable insights to increase food yields and minimize waste.
It is these kinds of meaningful outcomes that the 5G OIL is hoping to showcase in the field. And as discussed, the lab and its partners are succeeding. At a time when conversations about 5G focus on possibilities and potential, the 5G OIL has clearly emerged as a venue where 5G-enabled outcomes are not just theorized, but actually being proven.
