Network slicing is one of the most frequently discussed opportunities for Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) to monetize their 5G investments. Indeed, some reports project the network slicing market will reach a value of US $3 Billion by 2032 – and with unmatched industry experience, operators have a significant advantage in seizing the opportunity from newer market entrants. Yet as much effort as MNOs are expanding to prepare for the opportunity – determining what provisioning, management and billing will look like for a network slice – there is less attention being paid to actually optimize these slices for enterprise consumption.
Such was the topic of Expeto CEO Michael Anderson’s presentation in the Mobile World Congress session, “That’s My Slice!” Urging MNOs to focus on delivering networking excellence on enterprise terms, Anderson spoke to the mutually beneficial outcomes that will come from embracing an Enterprise First® solution that equips enterprise IT/OT teams with the power of control over networks, devices and data.
Following Anderson’s presentation, LYA’s Johanne Lemay led a fireside chat with Joe Constantine, JMA Wireless and Muriel Medard, MIT. Then, Ribbon Communications’ Hayim Pora presented on standardization challenges. Concluding the session was an expert panel with Nial Norton, Amdocs Networks; Junjie Hu, ZTE; and Terje Jensen, Telenor Group.
The session covers a range of topics, including:
- Differentiating network slicing solutions
- Meeting enterprise customer requirements
- Understanding the opportunity for MNOs and Enterprises
- Assessing and overcoming market challenges
- Predicting timelines and expectations
