Expand Field Area Networking with a Greener, More Resilient Grid
Utilities are modernizing their grid to improve operations and to incorporate green Distributed Energy Resources (DER) to meet decarbonization mandates. Connectivity is critical to the success of these initiatives – the new applications and connected assets that manage grid balancing, decarbonization implementation, fault location, isolation, and service restoration (FLISR) require low latency private networking throughout the entire service region. Other applications such as deploying video cameras used to monitor for grid-sparked wildfires required high bandwidth for real-time analysis. This makes communications integrity essential – more devices and applications expose more vulnerabilities, and without resilient and secure communications the power supply, worker safety and community safety are at risk.
